Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Or two bars saltirewise throughout Gules interlaced with an annulet of the like and two barrulets per cross barbed at both ends Azure. Attached below the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "SERVICE FOR VICTORY" in Black letters.

Symbolism
The scarlet saltirewise bars allude to Alabama, the unit's allotted State. The annulet, symbol of fidelity, represents the unit's home, Enterprise, which is "laid out in a circle." The barbs are emblematic of the four basic elements of the battalion. They are interlaced and placed at the cardinal points to symbolize the unit's overall mission and capabilities.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 22 April 1982.
